Correct colour and exposure in the browser
Most photographs that look slightly wrong need only small corrections: a little more contrast to lift a flat image, a touch of brightness for an underexposed one, or a small saturation reduction on colours that have been pushed too far by a phone camera. All four adjustments here apply live, so you can judge the result rather than guess at numbers.
A note on working order
Set brightness and contrast before touching saturation. Contrast changes how intense colours appear, so adjusting saturation first usually means doing it twice. Hue rotation shifts every colour around the wheel at once and is best kept for deliberate effects rather than correction.
Frequently asked questions
Is quality lost when I save?
The adjustment itself is applied at full resolution. The only loss comes from re-encoding, so keep the original if you may want to start again from it.
Why does saturation at zero look different from black and white?
Removing saturation weights the colour channels the way the eye perceives brightness, so a red and a blue of equal lightness end up the same grey. A dedicated black-and-white conversion can weight the channels differently for effect.
