Optimise SVG files online

An SVG is not a grid of pixels — it is a text document describing shapes. That is why it cannot be "compressed" the way a JPG is. Making one smaller means cleaning up the code: drawing programs such as Illustrator, Figma and Inkscape leave behind editor metadata, comments, empty groups and coordinates carried to a dozen decimal places. Removing that shrinks the file without altering a single line of the artwork.

Why coordinate precision matters

A path point written as 12.7345926535 takes far more bytes than 12.73, and on an icon a few hundred pixels wide the difference is invisible. Rounding to two decimals is safe for almost all interface graphics; large illustrations or maps meant for zooming may want three. The slider lets you decide, and the saving is shown per file before you download.

Frequently asked questions

Will optimising change how my SVG looks?

The default settings remove only data that has no effect on rendering. Coordinate rounding is the one option that alters geometry, and at two decimal places the shift is well under a single pixel at normal sizes. Compare the preview before downloading if the artwork is precision-critical.

How much smaller will the file get?

It depends entirely on what produced it. Icons exported from design tools often drop 30–60% because most of the file is editor metadata. A hand-written SVG that is already tidy may barely change.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The SVG is read as text in your browser and rewritten there. Nothing is sent to a server, so confidential logos and brand assets are safe to optimise here.
